    A Tree

This week I picked up a copy of Katie Brown’s new book, “Dare to See- Discovering God in the Everyday“.  If you don’t know who Katie Brown is, she is a lifestyle expert that I first discovered many years ago when she first came on the scene with a show called “Next Door with Katie Brown”.  Each episode contained a cooking segment, a craft/diy segment and a gardening segment.  It’s the kind of show that I love to watch and I was a fan from the beginning.  She has gone on to do a multitude of other projects.  You can find out what she’s all about over on katiebrown.com.  …

    Who’s Coming to Dinner?

I’ve been feeling a little stretched thin lately in the creative department.  That could be  reason for a lack of consistent posts, but that’s just the kind of thing that happens…a creative slump.  Last week I took a  “test” from Adobe to help determine my creativity type.  It was kind of like one of those personality tests that so many of us have taken.  It turns out I’m a “Visionary”.  As I read the assessment, I was kind of floored by the spot on assessment from just a few quick questions.    I’ve got a million ideas floating around in this brain and lately, I’ve been  on a search…

    Loving More, Fearing Less

It’s Monday, April 1.  The first day of a new month and it falls on a Monday?  I think that means conditions are right for starting something new, changing something that needs changed or just deciding today something will be different than yesterday.   I’m not typically one of those peoples who say I’m going to “start” something on Monday, or the first of the month, because honestly, I think on any day, any hour, any minute you can decided to be different than you were the minute before. As you know, one of my intentions for this year is to spread goodness wherever and whenever I can, and…

    On Spreading Goodness….

So, this past week I celebrated National Send a Card to a Friend Day by sending out some cards to friends, some of which I’ve known forever, some, I may have never actually met in person.  My intention was just to maybe brighten someone’s day with an unexpected note.  I have to tell you, I really had no idea just how much it would brighten my own.   Many of the cards I sent, were sent ON the actual day, so most probably haven’t arrived in the mailboxes of those I sent them to.  It still started my day off with such a positive vibe to drop those in the…

Send a Card to a Friend Day

When I was a kid, getting something in the mail that was addressed specifically to me, was major. I mean sure, I could pretend that those Colombia House record offers were for me. I would pour over those little stamps, carefully selecting which 6 I was going to order for only 99 cents. It was very important work. Any other junk mail would require the same. From time to time, however, an envelope would arrive addressed to “Mr. Gregory Utsinger”….fancy, huh? Usually cards, sometimes from my grandma with a half dollar taped to a small square of cardboard tucked inside, to celebrate Valentine’s Day, Christmas, etc. It was, obviously,…

    New Year, New Intentions

I haven’t written a new post in several months. I could fill pages with excuses as to why. I could go on about how busy I am with other things, how the holidays take up so much of my time, how my job keeps me too busy , but the truth is, I don’t think I’ve had anything particularly interesting to talk about. For a time, I considered just giving it up. If I didn’t have anything I felt worthy of sharing, then why bother? Why make myself crazy trying to come up with new content, and quietly beating myself up because I don’t? I also found myself getting increasingly…
